VIDEO: It's So Hot at Wrigley Field Cubs Fans Gave the Wind a Standing Ovation
By Mark Powell
As an amateur meteorologist, I'm here to report that it's an absolute scorcher on the North Side of Chicago this fine Saturday afternoon. It's so warm, in fact, that Cubs fans at Wrigley Field were utterly shocked by a modest breeze in the top of the seventh inning. Sitting in 94 degree heat (it feels like 104), Cubs supporters roared in approval when Mother Nature made her presence felt, and it just so happened to coincide with Javier Baez making the final out of the inning. How perfect!
Baseball teams around the country have warned fans in attendance about the incoming heat wave this weekend, recommending they stay hydrated and remain in the shade if possible. For Cubs fans who braved the elements, they not only got some well-timed wind, but also got to see their team Fly the W with a late comeback against the Padres.
Just another day at the ballpark.
