VIDEO: It's the 15th Anniversary of 'Malice at the Palace' and it's More Wild Each Time You Watch it

On this day in 2004, a brawl changed the NBA forever. When the Detroit Pistons, Indiana Pacers and a bunch of fans went after one another, "Malice at the Palace" was born and it's arguably the most infamous moment in basketball history.

It all started with a hard foul from Ron Artest on Ben Wallace, leading to a scuffle between the two. But before that was resolved, a fan threw a drink at Artest, causing him to run into the stands and attack a bystander who didn't do anything.
From there, an all-out melee between the fans, the Pacers, and the Pistons broke out that seemed to last forever. And of course, the punishments for those involved were insane.

Ever wonder why the NBA allows such little physicality today? Or why players get fined for leaving their bench during an altercation? This fight is a big reason for all of those changes. The league felt its image was soiled by this fiasco and needed to be revamped.
When you look back on this now, it's truly hard to imagine how this ended up transpiring because we couldn't picture it happening in today's NBA.
