VIDEO: Gardner Minshew Claims He Literally Tried to Break His Hand for Medical Redshirt at ECU
By Michael Luciano
After just three weeks in the NFL, the enigma and legend of Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Gardner Minshew II continues to grow. From being named Gardner Minshew II despite there not being a Gardner Minshew I, to his affinity for jorts and his signature facial hair, the former Washington State QB has proven to be quite the character. During a press conference this week, he went into detail about the time he tried to earn a medical redshirt by breaking his own hand with a hammer during his time at East Carolina.
Some might call it odd, others insane, but no one could ever call Minshew boring or humdrum.
His play on the field has backed it up, as he has set records for the highest completion percentage and passer rating through a rookie's first three weeks of the season in the Super Bowl Era.
If Jacksonville beats the Denver Broncos and the squad moves to 2-2 on the season, the legend and cult of Minshew will keep growing.
Just keep him away from the toolbox.
