VIDEO: James Paxton Throws Clear Strike That Was Called a Ball and Even Wilson Ramos Was Confused
By Scott Rogust
As in any MLB game, there are going to be some missed calls by the home plate umpire, but we've seen far too many terrible ones this year. During New York's Subway Series between the Yankees and Mets, James Paxton threw what looked to be a perfect strike on a 3-1 count to Wilson Ramos. Yet, it was not to be, as the ump called it a ball. Ramos was granted a walk but he didn't even know it was ball four because it was such a good pitch.
The delayed response says it all.
Luckily for Paxton, the missed call wasn't costly, as the Yankees got out of trouble as the result of yet another Gleyber Torres-Didi Gregorius double play.
