VIDEO: Javy Baez's Left-Handed Swing Actually Looks Surprisingly Smooth
By Sean Facey
Is there anything Javy Baez can't do? The Chicago Cubs star shortstop, who usually bats from the right side of the dish, took some batting practice from the left-hand side on Tuesday, and his swing was surprisingly smooth.
Perhaps we shouldn't be shocked. Baez has blossomed into a quality ballplayer for the Cubs over the last few seasons. He's slashing .287/.325/.554 on the season and has often been praised for his high baseball IQ.
Baez sports a 1.110 OPS against southpaws this year but just an .831 mark against right-handers. Perhaps he's trying to add a whole new component to his game by transitioning into a switch-hitter.
A switch-hitting Javier Baez would be enough to strike immense fear in the heart of any opposing pitcher.
