VIDEO: Joe Girardi Fights Back Tears Sending Emotional Message to CC Sabathia in Heartbreaking Clip

Hearts were broken in the Bronx on Thursday night. Not just because the Yankees lost to Houston in Game 5 and are on the brink of elimination from the ALCS, though. CC Sabathia, a New York legend, had to leave the game due to injury in what was likely the last appearance of his brilliant career. Fans took it hard. For former Yankees skipper Joe Girardi, he was clearly emotional seeing the big man exit, fighting back tears while discussing what Sabathia meant to him.

Can you fault Girardi at all for this reaction? Not only did he manage CC for nine years, but they were also teammates. Watching it all end this way from Girardi's perspective, considering he knows the left-hander as closely as he does, has to be incredibly emotional.

Words cannot express what No. 52 has meant to this organization and New York as a whole. If this indeed was your last dance, thanks for everything, CC.
