VIDEO: Joe Torre Should Be Embarrassed for His Explanation of Ridiculous Game 6 Interference Call
By Jerry Trotta

Game 6 of the World Series was a scintillating spectacle up until the top of the seventh inning. Stephen Strasburg was dealing and Justin Verlander was faltering, though he did his best to keep the Astros within striking distance. Juan Soto brilliantly trolled Alex Bregman's extended "bat flip." It was baseball at its very best. Then, however, utter chaos unfolded when Trea Turner was indefensibly called out for impeding Brad Peacock's erratic throw to first base. The umpiring crew took several minutes to review the play and somehow upheld their historic gaffe. Well, FOX's Ken Rosenthal interviewed MLB's chief baseball officer, Joe Torre, after the game and his interpretation of the farce, quite frankly, is a complete embarrassment.

Say it ain't so, Joe. What on earth are you saying here?
Just because Yuli Gurriel's glove was forced off his hand doesn't mean that Turner, clearly in the middle of the basepaths when he reached first base (as he should be), interfered with him catching Peacock's throw.
That logic came as common sense to not only every pundit within the industry, but to almost ALL common, unbiased baseball fans.
Uhhh Joe Torre told @Ken_Rosenthal that Trea Turner wasn't called out for running out of the basepath. He was called out was that he knocked off Gurriel's glove. pic.twitter.com/wWRr4qg9ty

Torre was presented with the perfect opportunity to clear up the all-time woeful blunder, but he, for reasons we don't understand, opted to back his umpiring crew.
The fact of the matter is that Anthony Rendon's two-run home run that ensued when play resumed saved the jobs of A LOT of people. Who knows where things would stand had the Astros mustered a comeback.
We don't even want to ponder that reality.
