VIDEO: Jon Lester Forgets He's a Damn Pitcher and Dominates Pirates With Homer and 3 RBIs
By Parker White
Remember when Jon Lester couldn't hit? Well, he's been in the National League with the Chicago Cubs for several years now and has shown he's capable of helping himself, which he certainly did on Saturday. Lester notched hits in his first two at-bats against the Pittsburgh Pirates, including this solo shot in the third inning. Take a look at this oppo power:
What the heck is going on at Wrigley today? Lester just took a fastball on the outside part of the plate and drove it with ease to left. I think someone was in the weight room over the break.
Not only did Lester go yard for the first time this season, but he drove in two runs back in the first inning with a long single off the left field wall.
I never thought I'd ask this, but is Lester going to win the Silver Slugger this year? The man is hitting .261 with a home run, five RBI and an .805 OPS.
