The Minnesota Twins clinched the AL Central last night for the first time since 2010, but they weren't done making history. Fast forward to Thursday and second baseman Jonathan Schoop belted his 23rd home run of the season, making them the first team in MLB history to hit 300 homers in a single season.

No wonder they call themselves the Bomba Squad.

Minnesota may be the first team to reach 300 long balls in a season, but they likely won't be the last, as the New York Yankees are right behind them with 299 and are set to play Friday night.

The Twins leader in home runs is Nelson Cruz with 40. Max Kepler provided 36, Miguel Sano crushed 33 (in 103 games), Eddie Rosario launched an additional 32, and catcher Mitch Garver slugged 31 in just 92 games (only 75 starts).

With the home run rate rapidly rising in Major League Baseball, it was only a matter of time until a team managed to crack the 300-bomb threshold.
