VIDEO: Jorge Polanco Smacks Solo Shot off James Paxton as Twins Take Early Lead in Game 1
By Jerry Trotta
Well, it didn't take very long at all for the Minnesota Twins to announce their presence in the 2019 postseason. Coming into the Bronx as hefty underdogs versus the New York Yankees in the ALDS, shortstop Jorge Polanco personified what the Twins have thrived on all season long -- the long ball. The All-Star launched a frozen rope of a solo shot off James Paxton in the first inning to give Minny a 1-0 lead and temporarily silence a boisterous Yankee Stadium crowd.
The Big Maple knew it was gone as soon as it left Polanco's bat. He left a fastball on the inner half of the strike zone and Chulo wasted no time pouncing on it.
Twins starter Jose Berrios can now take the mound with the comfort of having one run to work with.
