VIDEO: Jose Martinez's 3-Run Shot Caps off 10-Run Inning for Cardinals Against the Reds
By Karl Rasmussen
Things were looking glum for the St. Louis Cardinals as they entered the sixth inning, trailing the Reds, 7-0. Well, someone must have lit a fire under them, as they all of the sudden became scalding hot. The Cardinals scored 10 runs in the sixth inning, capped off by a massive three-run shot from Jose Martinez.
No matter what pitcher the Reds brought in, they had no answer for the Cardinals' sluggers.
Remarkably, Martinez's bomb was the only home run of the scoring frenzy, as base hits were what plagued the Reds.
The seventh inning started off equally hot as well for St. Louis, as Paul DeJong extended their lead to 12-7 with a two-run blast of his own.
