VIDEO: Josh Bell Clubs 2 Home Runs Against Cubs Before End of 2nd Inning
By Jerry Trotta
We're going to have a guess and say that Pittsburgh Pirates first baseman Josh Bell is still a little salty about not being awarded the starting nod for the National League in the All-Star Game. The 26-year-old has been demolishing the baseball all season long, but put a little extra mustard into a moon shot of a home run in the 1st inning against the Chicago Cubs on Monday.
A fastball belt-high right down the pipe? Really, Adbert Alzolay? We know you're just a rookie, but come on now.
Bell eats meatballs like those for breakfast and the result was homer No. 23 of 2019 for the Dallas Jesuit College Prep product.
Fast forward to just the 2nd inning, however, and Bell was up to more of the same, demolishing his second big fly of the night DEEP into the PNC Park sky.
This time around Bell tagged Alzolay on a hanging breaking ball. Another rookie mistake from the young pitcher.
Bell got a week's worth of slugging done in just a couple of innings, as the Pirates now look to fend off the Cubs for the remaining innings of the game.
