VIDEO: Josh Donaldson Opens the Scoring at Citi Field With Solo Jack for Atlanta
By Michael Luciano

It didn't take long for Atlanta Braves third baseman Josh Donaldson to bring some rain Sunday against Steven Matz and the New York Mets. Donaldson is once again looking like the MVP winner in Toronto, as he took Matz just over the left field fence to give the NL East leaders a 1-0 lead over the hosts in the second inning.

Donaldson's blast was No. 31 on the season for the 33-year-old third baseman.
After struggling through 52 injury-riddled games in 2018 in which he only managed 8 home runs for both the Blue Jays and Cleveland Indians, Donaldson has found the Fountain of Youth in Atlanta.
The only player in all of baseball with more home runs than Donaldson's 23 since June 11 is Mike Trout. Talk about a hot streak.
Josh Donaldson homers again for Atlanta #Braves. He has 31 homers, and 23 homers since June 11. Only Mike Trout with 24 has more in that span.

Donaldson went from hanging onto a roster spot for dear life to becoming a key member of a team that is going to win their division all within the span of a year.
