VIDEO: Juan Soto Gives Nats Lead With 3-Run Single After Trent Grisham Makes Egregious Error
By Karl Rasmussen
And all of a sudden, the Nationals have the lead. Juan Soto came up to the plate with the bases juiced after Josh Hader walked Anthony Rendon. Soto laced a ball into right field, looking likely to tie the game at 3-3. However, rookie outfielder Trent Grisham misplayed the hop, allowing the ball to get past him and a third Nats' runner to cross the plate.
Grisham missed the ball terribly, as you can see him drift far too wide and end up jabbing at it with his glove. His defensive misplay ended up costing the Brewers their lead, with just one out remaining in the inning.
Grisham's error effectively knocked the Brewers out of the postseason, and this will likely be a play that haunts the rookie for years to come.
