Thanks to free agency, the Atlanta Braves were forced to say goodbye to their opening day starter for the last six seasons as Julio Teheran agreed to a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Angels earlier in the week. The 28-year-old right-hander had spent the entirety of his career with the Braves, which has spanned nine seasons (2011-2019) to date. It will undoubtedly take some time for him to adjust to life outside of Atlanta, and Teheran took to Instagram on Saturday to thank the organization for everything they did to jumpstart his MLB career.

Today a new chapter in my life starts. It’s being 13 years of growing, not only as a player and in the field, also as a human being ; maturing, learning, reinventing myself. During the process, through the Ups and downs, baseball has always been my passion, what makes me feel at home even when I’m away from it. To my @braves nation a big THANKS for helping me transition from the young kid with just a dream, to the man and pitcher I am today. To the fans and all the people who were there thru the years, Thank you for all the love and support, I will always be grateful for it. Now I embark on this new path with God watching over me and trusting his will. To @angels organization I’m excited for what’s coming ... JT49

Class personified from the two-time All-Star, and we'd expect nothing less.

Often overlooked as a big league starter, Teheran's tenure in Atlanta will see him tabbed one of the most enduring hurlers of this Braves era. His 77 wins rank ninth-most in franchise history. Additionally, he's fifth in strikeouts (1,1184), sixth in games started (226), seventh in ERA (3.67), and eighth in innings pitched with a tally of 1,360.

Though he never consistently lived up to an ace's billing, Teheran was as consistent and reliable of a servant as they come, and Braves buffs should absolutely wish him well into the future.
