VIDEO: Justin Verlander's Attempt to Field Ryan Zimmerman's Grounder Ended in Comedic Disaster
By Thomas Carannante
Justin Verlander gets an A for effort, but the Houston Astros right-hander is going to end up on the Not Top 10 after this blunder. In the top of the fourth inning of Game 2 of the World Series, Washington Nationals slugger Ryan Zimmerman hit a weak grounder on the infield and Verlander bolted off the mound in an attempt to make a play. I guess, if "attempt" is what you want to call it.
Not quite Simone Biles, but close, eh? Verlander tumbled to the ground and then threw the ball off his leg when he finally gained control and got some use of his arms. Baseball comedy, if you will.
How about this angle?
The only way it could've been better is if there was a runner on base to toy with Verlander after the ball ricocheted off his leg.
