VIDEO: Kaapo Kakko's Overtime Shift Against Team USA Was Freaking Unreal
By Austin Pert
The game of hockey is said to be about precision passing, spacing and ultra-quick line changes. Not often can fans see a player take over a game in a short amount of time, but don't tell that to Finland's Kaapo Kakko.
As you can see, Kakko takes the puck in his team's own defensive zone, skates it into the attacking zone, and circles around both goaltender Cory Schneider and defenseman Ryan Suter. Even as Team USA's players try and steal the puck from Kakko, it takes a seemingly interminable amount of time to dispossesses him.
Kakko, 18, is seen as a top prospect in this summer's NHL Draft, so it remains to be seen if this young buck can improve his draft stock with this video. Any NHL team looking to improve their puck possession department would be wise to take a look at him .
Fortunately, all patriotic Americans who cringe seeing Team USA embarrassed by this kid can take take heart in the fact that the US would prevail just minutes later in OT by way of a Dylan Larkin goal.
But while the Finns may have lost the game, Kakko can take heart in the fact that he will have many more highlight-reel moments ahead of him .
