VIDEO: Ken Rosenthal Discusses Yankees' Potential Interest in Trevor Bauer
By Charles Nason
Fox Sports MLB analyst Ken Rosenthal spent some time during the All-Star Game's pregame coverage discussing whether or not one of the league's top pitchers could be on the move.
Trevor Bauer has been the go-to guy for the Cleveland Indians this year. However, with his contract expiring and other teams' interest in the 28-year-old spiking, Bauer could be on the move by the trade deadline.
The New York Yankees were cited as one of the top potential destinations for Bauer. With a desperate need for a starting pitcher and plenty of assets to move, the Yankees could easily acquire the hurler at the deadline.
Adding Bauer to the mix in the Bronx would be a big get. This season, he's tossed 132 innings to the tune of a 3.61 ERA, 149 strikeouts and an 8-6 record.
Bauer leaving Cleveland depends heavily on whether the Indians think they can contend this season. They've managed to close the gap on the Twins, trailing by just 5.5 games now.
While the Tribe could use some help in the outfield, as Rosenthal pointed out, they're probably going to be hesitant to deal one of the top pitchers in their rotation, especially considering Carlos Carrasco's health issues and Corey Kluber's elbow injury.
If they do show interest in dealing Bauer, expect the Yankees to be atop the list of teams to land the right-handed ace.
