VIDEO: Keon Broxton Gets Ejected for Throwing Batting Gloves at Umpire After Strikeout vs Yankees
By Daniel Marcillo
Keon Broxton and his .173 average have not been able to hit much during the 2019 season. His poor hitting has landed him on his third team this year, latching on with the Mariners. Well things went from bad to worse for Broxton on Monday night, after the outfielder was less than thrilled about a called third strike against the Yankees. He flung off his helmet and ripped off his batting gloves, with one making contact with the home plate umpire, who subsequently ejected him from the game.
We still don't know if the more impressive part of this is the distance the glove traveled or the pinpoint accuracy it had.
The throw is reminiscent of Delmon Young doing the same thing in the minor leagues. Expect in Young's case it was his bat instead of a flimsy batting glove.
