VIDEO: Korean Call of Ji-Man Choi Homer is Wild
By Jared Kish
Tampa Bay Rays first baseman Ji-Man Choi blasted a homer last night off Twins pitcher Zach Littell, and the accompanying call from the Korean broadcast team is... a little different than most home run calls you tend to hear.
These Korean announcers were beaming with excitement when their countryman blasted that dinger. This was Choi's fifth big fly on the year, and it put the Rays up 14-2 in the seventh over a potent Twins team.
Judging by this call, it seems like Choi pretty well-liked back home. There has long been a strong passion for baseball in South Korea, where the local fans have routinely done a fine job supporting their guys when they relocated to play in the MLB.
Choi has put a nice solid season together for himself with 5 home runs, a .264 average and a .762 OPS. One of his homers includes a inside-the-parker on May 27.
Choi golfed the baseball out of the Trop, and the play-by-play was picture-perfect. More of these, please! This is what it's all about.
