VIDEO: Kris Bryant Leaves Game Injured After Awkwardly Slipping on First Base
By Sam Dunn

This is just about the last thing a Cubs fan would want to see at any time, much less at a time in which a playoff spot suddenly feels so elusive. Running out some fairly routine contact against the division rival Cardinals, star first baseman Kris Bryant was narrowly thrown out at first base on a double play ball, but his foot made uneven contact with the bag, causing him to slip.

Bryant subsquenently had to leave the game, forcing Cubs fans all over to hold their collective breaths.
All told, it certainly did not help that the base was wet.

The Cubs are six games back in the NL Central, and are three games back of the Brewers for the second Wild Card spot. Losing their former league MVP could spell doom for this final stretch of the regular season.
