VIDEO: Kris Bryant Leaves Game With Concerning Injury and Anthony Rizzo Gets Ejected in Cubs-Giants
By Jerry Trotta
Wednesday afternoon's clash between the Chicago Cubs and San Francisco Giants is delivering all kinds of headlines. The Cubbies might hold a healthy lead at the moment, but fans will feel nothing but uneasiness after they see Kris Bryant wince upon striking out. It didn't look like much, but it was enough to force the former NL MVP from today's contest.
You really just have to hope that Bryant didn't injure his oblique there. And manager Joe Maddon will be feeling the same as his All-Star third baseman has been scorching hot of late. He event belted a two-run dinger earlier in the game.
But wasn't all that today's meeting had to offer for the neutral fan.
Anthony Rizzo was ejected, presumably for arguing balls and strikes, though we cannot find an official reason for his tossing. Rizz and home plate ump Jordan Baker were exchanging a few choice words after his ejection.
The All-Star first baseman must have really detested a call by Baker because it takes A LOT to get the always-smiling Rizz as animated as this.
Stay tuned, folks. There's still time left in this one. Who knows what will happen next.
