VIDEO: Kurt Suzuki Puts on 'MAGA' Hat During White House Ceremony and Tells Fans He 'Loves Them All'
By Parker White
The White House is hosting the Washington Nationals after their World Series win over the Houston Astros last week, much to the surprise of many considering so many championship teams have declined offers from the President over the past few years. But it sure seems like the Nats are enjoying their time there, especially catcher Kurt Suzuki, who donned a "MAGA" cap and addressed the crowd in attendance.
We don't think anyone expected that. What does Nationals reliever Sean Doolittle, who didn't attend for his opposition to President Trump, think about that? And for those of you at home perhaps thinking Suzuki didn't know what he was doing, it's pretty clear he did. He's from Hawaii and is a fourth generation Japanese American, so it's safe to say he's in tune with American politics.
Nonetheless, for once, we have some harmony between a sports team and the White House in Washington DC. Coincidence that it happens to be with the team in that city? However, the Capitals, Red Sox and Patriots all went in recent years with a number of individuals declining to go.
There definitely would've been more controversy than usual if the team in the nation's capital turned down their invite.
