VIDEO: Kyle Schwarber Says He Was Trying for a Single Before Hitting Walk-Off Homer

It must be nice to have enough raw power that even your attempts at hitting a single up the middle leave the yard. For Kyle Schwarber, that is exactly what happened on Tuesday night, as his version of "staying up the middle" flew further than he thought and gave the Cubs a 4-3 win in the 10th inning against the Reds.

Schwarber was a little behind on the 96-mph fastball from Raisel Iglesias, but still was able to get enough on it to drive it into the webbing out in left-center at Wrigley Field. With no one on and one man out, Schwarber may have been just trying to get a rally going, but I am sure he will take the walk-off dinger instead.

The homer lifted the Cubs to their sixth win in the last ten games, maintaining their slim 2.5-game lead over the Brewers atop the NL Central. And for Kyle Schwarber, just keep trying to hit singles, and you will hit a lot more of these bombs. That's what they always say, isn't it?
