VIDEO: Kyrie Irving Pretty Much Compared Himself to Martin Luther King Jr. and We Have No Words

Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving returned to action last week and has managed to cause controversy without hesitation. His prolonged injury absence was enough of a distraction, but why not toss in criticism of his teammates after just a few games back from injury, calling out the media and fans for then criticizing him over said comments, and then ... comparing himself to Martin Luther King Jr.?

We know it's MLK Day dude, but this is NOT the correct parallel. While Irving is definitely a smart man, he's largely been "crucified" (if you're even willing to call it that) for promoting the Flat Earth theory, causing friction between him and LeBron James during their time in Cleveland (which Irving later admitted to and apologized for), and what has most recently transpired (among other things).

Sure, there were reports during his injury absence that were a bit out there, but does he really think he's being targeted by these reporters because of "what he stands for"?

And it's not like any of this was unfounded. Kevin Durant responded to the chatter and seemingly didn't deny any of it. Any wonder he was a one-and-done in Boston? There's evidence here to suggest everything isn't fine and dandy.

But yeah, people are out here trying to crucify one of the most influential social leaders of our time in Kyrie Irving.
