VIDEO: LaDainian Tomlinson and Shane Vereen Talking About Patriots Offense Should Terrify NFL
By Jerry Trotta
Various NFL pundits and skeptics are thinking the retirement of Rob Gronkowski will severely hinder the potential of the Patriots offense next season. But after six Super Bowl Championships, you would think we'd stop kidding ourselves and realize that this team is destined for greatness until Tom Brady and Bill Belichick both call it quits. And NFL Network's LaDanian Tomlinson and Shane Vereen are here to remind everybody of that reality. Check out the two former players praising the dynamic force of nature that is New England's offense:
To sum up Vereen's thoughts: "The offense fits around the talent of the players. Which is why every week it looks different. Which is why every week, defenses are scratching their heads trying to figure out who to stop. It's a very fluid offense which makes it complicated, but once you get it, everybody has a chance to be successful."
As for the former Chargers star: "They brought in a lot of big receivers, 6-foot-2 and above, playing them in the slot. To me, its going to look like early 2000s, mid 2000s with Corey Dillon when they just ran the snot out of the ball...pounding you between the tackles but then taking their shots down the field when it presents itself."
Should we just mail in the 2019-2020 season now? Thanks Shane and LT. This is the absolute last thing those of us who would like to see any other franchise caress the Lombardi Trophy next February needed to hear.
