The Stanley Cup Finals have come to a close, with the St. Louis Blues lifting the Stanley Cup for the first time in their 52-year history. Not only were people inside of the organization cheering out of their minds, but the Blues faithful were finally able to call their team champions after half a century of agonizing pain. One fan who was in Boston to witness history was Blues superfan Laila Anderson, who had her own special moment with the Stanley Cup.
Laila is an 11-year-old who is a huge Blues fan, and is battling a life-threatening autoimmune disease. She has been with the team every step of the way throughout their historic playoff run, and it's only right she was given her moment with the cup.
After the whole team took their lap with the Stanley Cup, St. Louis defenseman Colton Parayko brought the cup over to Laila to spend a moment neither of them will ever forget.
After the Game 6 loss in St. Louis to the Boston Bruins, the Blues surprised Laila with tickets to Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final so that she could witness the moment that all of St. Louis has been waiting for since the city was awarded an expansion franchise back in 1967.
Parayko was not the only Blues player to celebrate with Laila, as almost every player interacted with her at some point as they were on the ice celebrating their title. Pat Maroon, a St. Louis born Blue, spotted her in the crowd and instantly went to her to celebrate and take pictures.
Every good story needs a heartfelt aspect, and Laila was that and so much more for this historic team.
