VIDEO: Lakers Honor Kobe Bryant and Helicopter Crash Victims With Emotional Tribute Ahead of Friday's Game
By Karl Rasmussen
The world has been grieving the loss of Kobe Bean Bryant for much of the past week, and all that emotion was packed into one room when the Lakers returned to Los Angeles for their clash against the Portland Trail Blazers. Ahead of Friday night's clash, the Lakers held an emotional tribute for Kobe, Gigi and the seven others who lost their lives in the helicopter crash.
Hearing Kobe's voice echo throughout the rafters at Staples Center was incredibly emotional, and fans were cheering passionately throughout the entire tribute video.
The video showed clips from throughout Kobe's career featuring some of the best moments from his 20 years in the league all the way down to his retirement. It showed him being a role model, a father, and a loving husband, as well as a leader and an icon for people to draw inspiration from.
The beautiful video was followed up by a 24.2 second moment of silence in honor of Kobe, Gigi and the others who lost their lives.
Emotions will be running high at Staples Center well beyond the final buzzer tonight, but the organization is making sure Kobe is properly honored at his former stomping grounds.
