VIDEO: LaVar Ball Provides Puzzling Explanation for Controversial Remark to ESPN's Molly Qerim
By Charles Nason

Lavar Ball has been under fire lately -- yes, again -- for a truly clumsy comment he made towards Molly Qerim, host of ESPN's "First Take." After saying, "You can switch gears with me anytime" when Qerim used the common turn of phrase in an effort to transition between segments, the Worldwide Leader in Sports banned Ball from all its platforms until further notice. Now, the Big Baller Brand patriarch is speaking out about the whole episode, and has offered a bizarre response.
“Only time I hit on her is if she breaking in my house and I mistake her for the boogeyman.”

Molly Qerim, the boogeyman? Hmmm. That's an interesting place to go with this controversy, big man.
Some have criticized ESPN for being too harsh in their punishment of Ball. After learning that he's made similar comments in the past -- and on the same show for that matter -- he has a case to make for his intent being authenticaly harmless.
In typical LaVar fashion, he responded hilariously to the news that ESPN banned him.

This whole controversy has been blown out of proportion at this point. After watching the original "First Take" clip and filtering it through Ball's response, it's clear that ESPN did not necessarily have to act quite as sweepingly as they did. LaVar Ball is famous for saying controversial things across the major sports news networks, however, so the idea that he wasn't granted the benefit of the doubt isn't a shock. The network simply meant to stand up for their employee, who was clearly irked by Ball's choice of words.
