VIDEO: Little Kid Cranks Ball Right Into Padres Star Fernando Tatis Jr's Chest
By Parker White
The San Diego Padres had a day off on Wednesday, and rookie shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. spent it hosting a baseball camp for kids. That's great, and props to him giving back to his community, but I'm sure he didn't expect getting crushed in the chest from a baseball off the bat to be on his agenda.
Instead of just being the face of this camp, taking photos and signing autographs, Tatis Jr. threw pitches to kids. The first couple balls went right over him with ease, but the kid was trying to do too much on that last pitch and lined it off Tatis' chest.
Luckily, he appears to be fine and laughed it off.
Now, if that kid aimed a foot lower, Tatis wouldn't have been laughing. He'd be crying, and probably wouldn't be playing Thursday night against Los Angeles.
We can't be risking the future of baseball in this manner. Simply can't be.
