VIDEO: Lourdes Gurriel Jr. Blasts 3-Run Shot to Give Blue Jays Early Lead at Yankee Stadium
By Sean Facey
James Paxton walked the first two batters he faced, and the Blue Jays made him pay. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. stepped right up and blasted a three-run home run to center field off of the Yankees starter to give his team a 3-0 lead before the game's first out was even recorded.
It's a classic example of how mistakes rarely go unpunished in the MLB.
The home run was Gurriel's 11th of the year, matching his mark from the 65 games he played in last year. He came into the game on a hot streak, slashing .364/.382/.606 with 2 home runs over his previous seven games, and he sure doesn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon.
