VIDEO: Luis Castillo Destroying JD Martinez With Changeups Showed Why Yankees Need to Trade for Him

Luis Castillo was nothing short of dazzling on Tuesday. In his first career All-Star Game appearance, the Cincinnati Reds star kept JD Martinez off balance with a heavy dosage of sliders. In making light work of Martinez, he proved that the Yankees absolutely need to swing a deal for him, while hoping Cincinnati falls further off the pace.

Martinez has dominated the Yankees since he arrived in Boston in 2018. The star slugger has slashed .356/.396/.653 with a 172 wRC+ and .432 wOBA in 112 plate appearances against New York pitching since the start of last year. He also has seven home runs and 24 runs batted in to his name.

Not only would Castillo neutralize a bit Martinez, but he would help wipe away Boston's shot at taking advantage of New York's mediocre pitching while making a division run, potentially knocking them out of the postseason race altogether.

Martinez is, by any measure, one of the best hitters in the league. The fact that Castillo was able to dominate him with such ease is proof enough that he's the guy to solve the Yankees' starting pitching woes. A young star who can handle his own against the league's best is the perfect fit.

It would take a king's ransom to steal him away from the Reds, though. He's only 26 years old and he has four years of control left after this season.

With that being said, the Yankees are a prospect rich team. If anyone has the pieces to swipe him, it's them.
