VIDEO: Maddy Freking's Moment is Here and She is Ready to Dominate Little League World Series

After Mo'ne Davis captivated the world with her un-hittable gas in the 2014 Little League World Series, the 2019 edition will feature the first girl since Davis to play in the tournament. Maddy Freking is starting as the Coon Rapids, Minn. second baseman, after the team advanced to the tournament via a victory over Iowa in the regional championship.

Freking is only the 19th girl in the 72-year history of the competition, so clearly this isn't something that occurs frequently. She will likely be thrust into the national spotlight, but it seems her coaches have her prepared for the pressure.
“We told her if [it] gets to be too much, just let us know, us coaches, and we’ll try to tell people to take a break,” head coach Greg Bloom said. “But I’ve warned her to expect to get a lot of attention. This doesn’t happen very often.”

Sleepy little towns like Coon Rapids are rarely the setting for a media sensation to break out. If Freking can backup the hype with her play, which she has given every indication she is capable of doing, this Minnesota team could make some waves in the 2019 Series.
