VIDEO: Manny Machado Destroys 200th Career Home Run With Blast Against Cubs
By Parker White
Benchmark home runs are really exciting for a player, especially when they can help your team take the lead. That's what happened on Saturday for San Diego Padres star Manny Machado, who gave his team the lead with a two-run shot at Wrigley Field, giving him 200 career home runs.
Look at that effortless oppo power.
Machado's 200th career blast puts him in some elite company all-time, as he just became the second-youngest third baseman to accomplish this feat. Only Hall of Famer Eddie Mathews was younger at 25 years old.
Machado got off to a slow start to his Padres career, but the $300 million man has really picked up his play and is now hitting .273 with 25 homers and 66 RBI on the season.
I'd say the deal is working out so far, don't ya think?
