VIDEO: Marlins Top Prospect Isan Diaz's Parents Go Wild on Live TV as He Drills First MLB Home Run
By Daniel Marcillo
Recently, the sporting world marveled over LeBron James going nuts on the court after his son threw down a massive alley-oop. Proud parents exist in all realms of sport, though, and we were lucky enough to be blessed with a heartwarming moment when Marlins stud Isan Diaz drilled his first big league home run (for his first hit) on Monday. His parents were being interviewed at the time, and they let loose!
Diaz had family from Puerto Rico and Massachusetts in the crowd at Citi Field to witness his first home run. What makes the home run even better is that he launched it off Jacob deGrom.
Not shockingly, his parents had the exact same reaction ours did when we hit home runs during little league. Diaz is a big more important than that, however; he's Miami's No. 5 prospect, and is someone the Marlins can bank their future on.
Diaz hit 26 homers in the minors so far this year, even though he does not sport the frame of your typical power bat. At only 5-10 and 185 pounds, he swings a powerful stick, as evidenced by this moonshot.
The reaction from his family is absolutely great, and no player could reach the big leagues without a terrific support system. This certainly will not be the last homer the Diaz family will ever watch.
