VIDEO: Masahiro Tanaka Delivers an Absolutely Nasty Splitter to Rays Batter
By Karl Rasmussen
When Masahiro Tanaka can locate his splitter, he's one of the hardest pitchers to face in all of baseball. That was certainly the case on Saturday afternoon when the Yankees hosted the Rays, as Tanaka dropped a near perfect splitter to fool his opposition.
That pitch looked like it was going to be hittable in the bottom half of the zone, before its insane last second movement saw the pitch dive towards the dirt. The batter had already started to swing by the time the ball really picked up movement, and ended up whiffing pretty badly on the pitch.
Tanaka has been sensational in his past two starts, both coming against Tampa, and he's relied heavily on that splitter. It's worked out well for him.
