VIDEO: Masahiro Tanaka Exits Game After Being Hit by 113 MPH Ground Ball From Yandy Díaz
By Karl Rasmussen
This doesn't look good. Masahiro Tanaka may be the latest Yankee to be dealing with an injury, as during the sixth inning on Saturday he took a screaming grounder from Rays' Yandy Díaz off of his foot. Miraculously the Yankes got the out at first base, but Tanaka was ushered into the locker room shortly after.
The hit from Díaz clocked in at 113 mph and caught Tanaka square in the foot, before ricocheting right over to Luke Voit at first for what was a bizarre 1-3 putout.
Tanaka's injury would be catastrophic for a Yankees team that is somehow leading the AL East amid the myriad of injuries to key players. If Tanaka goes down, especially considering his performance of late, the Yankees would find themselves in a very difficult situation.
