VIDEO: Melo Awkwardly Explains Wishing LaLa Happy Birthday While Next to Random Lady on a Boat

For the first time in what seems like forever, Carmelo Anthony's name is in the news for a reason other than draining open mid-range jumpers in a gym with nobody guarding him, or asking for a one-year deal from the Lakers. No, he's had to respond to a story that ended up getting framed in a rather unfortunate way.

Over the past two days, pictures have been surfacing of Carmelo Anthony laying on a yacht next to an unidentified woman in a bikini, a story that coincided with the man himself wishing his wife, LaLa, a happy birthday. In typical internet fashion, everyone immediately assumed it meant Melo was cheating on his wife. Because that's the only reasonable explanation, right?

Well, wrong. In fact, the former NBA scoring champion set the record straight today, explaining that the woman pictured next to him was there with her own husband and family, and he was just trying to enjoy his vacation overseas.

In the video, Melo states that he's only acknowledging the rumors because it's starting to affect his family, and that the woman was just there trying to enjoy her own family getaway. Which, you know, probably should've been the general consensus.

Props to Melo for taking things into his own hands and shooting down a ridiculous rumor. We can all go on with our lives now, right?
