VIDEO: Mets Defeat White Sox After Dominant Syndergaard Outing, Diaz Blown Save and McNeil Home Run
By Thomas Carannante

A classic rollercoaster night for Mets fans. New York is in Chicago visiting the White Sox, and with trade rumors surrounding the team, Noah Syndergaard took the mound in what could've been his last start as a Met. He delivered a gem, striking out 11 batters while only giving up one run in 7.1 innings of work. Just look at this heat.
Keeping it eight more than 92 with it.

Sheeeeesh.
And after all that, including escaping a jam in the eighth with runners on second and third and no outs, Edwin Diaz came on for the save in the ninth only to blow it. He managed to deliver a pitiful performance but somehow get out of the inning with the ballgame tied 2-2.

It was his 5th blown save. The Red Sox should definitely stand out on this guy.
So, once again, Mickey Callaway had to overuse his bullpen, but he was lucky Jeff McNeil and Michael Conforto came to party in the 11th inning to end it.
First came McNeil with a two-run shot:

And then Conforto sent one into the parking lot:

That's a 5-2 Mets win but NOT the way the fans envisioned.
The Mets are now just five games below .500 as they look to push for the NL Wild Card spot...assuming no more trades are made before Wednesday's deadline.
