VIDEO: Mets Take Lead Over Phillies With Home Runs From Dominic Smith and Jeff McNeil
By Michael Luciano

In a week where they've been getting knocked all around Citizens Bank Park by the Phillies and their manager lost it on a reporter, things haven't been going great for the New York Mets. However, with a matchup against Nick Pivetta next on the docket, Dominic Smith and the Mets have taken full advantage, as Smith launched his seventh home run of the season to give the Mets a 1-0 lead over the Phillies.

Not to be outdone, Jeff McNeil, who came into this game hitting at a .348 clip, got a hold of another Pivetta meatball for his sixth home run of the season, giving the Mets a 2-0 lead.

Smith, McNeil and Pete Alonso have been just about the only good players in a trainwreck of a season in Queens. That promising young trio is almost single-handedly preventing the Mets from completely going off the rails.
