VIDEO: Micah Hyde Said if Tom Brady Got Hit Like Josh Allen Consequences Would Be Worse
By Michael Luciano
Part of the reason the New England Patriots were able to squeeze out a win against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday was the fact that starting quarterback Josh Allen was annihilated by Patriots corner Jonathan Jones, which forced him out of the game as the fourth quarter heated up. Bills safety Micah Hyde took exception to the hit and the subsequent punishment dealt out to Jones, claiming that he would have been scrutinized to a much greater degree if he'd hit Tom Brady in the same manner.
Easy to say, but that's because it's true.
While Jones was flagged for a 15-yard penalty, and Allen was still trying to gain yards, Jones did launch himself and lead with the crown of a helmet. By definition, that should be a penalty, ejection, and a likely fine.
Given how much the league wants to protect Brady (not due to Patriots favoritism, but out of a need to keep its superstars healthy), Hyde would have certainly been flagged for that hit, and could have been subject to further discipline if Brady were to miss any length of time.
We'll see if the league looks at that hit and decides that Jones should be subject to anything further.
