VIDEO: Michael Barrett Punched AJ Pierzynski in the Face 13 Years Ago Today in Cubs-White Sox Brawl
By Parker White

Former MLB catcher A.J. Pierzynski was notorious for being unlikable during his playing days, and it's safe to say that fellow backstop of the Chicago Cubs, Michael Barrett, wasn't a fan. Thirteen years ago to the day, the two went to blows in an encounter at home plate when the crosstown rivalry between the Cubs and White Sox was hot. Remember this?!

Pierzynski came in hot and blew up Barrett at home, and after the collision he vehemently slapped the plate with the Cubs' backstop on the ground. Barrett didn't take it kindly, and from there he wrapped up Pierzynski and then punched him the face.
The brawl was on after that.

The hilarious part is the fact Pierzynski didn't hit the ground and then he was waiving his arms to get the crowd into it on his way back to the dugout. Either he has a jaw of steel or Barrett doesn't pack a punch.
I wonder when this rivalry will get heated like it was over a decade ago. These two will face off next on June 18, so look for some potential fireworks then.
