VIDEO: Michael Conforto Crushes 3-Run Shot in 1st Inning as Mets Take Early Lead vs Royals
By Jerry Trotta
A loss on Sunday against the woeful Kansas City Royals isn't really an option for Mickey Callaway and the New York Mets when you consider the gauntlet of a schedule that's looming in the near future. Well, it would appear that the second-year manager conveyed that message to his club, because the Amazins' jumped all over KC in the first inning. Michael Conforto unleashed a mammoth of a three-run bomb to give the Mets an early lead.
Folks, that one wasn't far from departing Kauffman Stadium. Sure, 84 mph changeups look like meatballs to most accomplished hitters, but Glenn Sparkman didn't necessarily leave that one right down broadway.
Conforto just displayed tremendous hitting, turning his hips on the inside pitch and sending the baseball into oblivion. The ball traveled a remarkable 451 feet, leaving the park with an exit velocity of just under 111 mph.
