VIDEO: Michael Conforto Delivers Game Winner for Mets in Ambush of Yankees' Bullpen in 8th Inning
By Scott Rogust
Remember when the New York Yankees held a 2-0 lead for the majority of Tuesday night's game against the Mets? That disappeared, thanks to a bullpen blowup from the Yankees. In the bottom of the eighth inning, JD Davis hit a deep shot to center field off of reliever Adam Ottavino. Aaron Hicks went for the diving catch but missed, allowing Pete Alonso to huff and puff his way to home plate to tie things up at 2-2.
The Mets didn't stop there. After getting the bases loaded, Michael Conforto hit a huge double off Zach Britton to extend their lead to 4-2.
Edwin Diaz closed it out and the Mets grabbed the 4-2 victory.
