VIDEO: Mike Fiers Refused to Discuss Astros' Sign-Stealing Scandal While Addressing the Media
Oakland A's pitcher Mike Fiers is a polarizing figure in the baseball world right now. He was the whistleblower for the Houston Astros' cheating scandal, and that has gotten him hate from some folks, whilst he's been praised by others. Fiers addressed the media on Friday for the first time since the scandal truly took off, but instead of talking about the situation in Houston, the right-hander refused to discuss the matter at all.
"I'm not talking about that right now," Fiers said. "I'll talk about baseball, talk about my team moving forward, but right now I just want to focus on this team and nothing else."
Fiers has said his piece and wants to move on and focus on baseball. He's still likely going to be asked the same questions throughout the year, but it's his right to refuse to answer. He gave the league the information it needed, and the rest is up to Rob Manfred and Co.
At some points Fiers does just have to move forward and focus on the season ahead. He appears to be trying to do just that and made the decision to refrain from further comment on the situation.
