VIDEO: Mike Leach and Washington State Tried Creepy Play Snapping With the WR Again But Got Flagged
By Thomas Carannante
The Washington State-Houston Cougar vs. Cougar showdown was a tight one for most of the contest, but Mike Leach tried to get ahead early on and dip into the old bag of tricks. We saw him do this last year against Wyoming, and Wazzu did it again. The Cougs tried executing a play where a receiver snapped it out wide to the QB, but the refs flagged it this time.
There's no way this is productive unless the ball is snapped to the receiver in motion. The quarterback is losing precious time as the defensive line is looking to rip through the O-line.
Look how absurd it looks from the defensive side:
Interestingly enough, the play itself wasn't illegal -- it was the manner in which the receiver snapped the ball. It cannot be lifted off the ground, it has to be snapped in one motion.
Looks like we know what the skill position players will be doing at practice this week at Wazzu.
