VIDEO: Mitch Garver Suffers Potentially Serious Injury After Home Plate Collision With Shohei Ohtani
By Seth Carlson

You never want to see something like this. After Los Angeles Angels SP/DH Shohei Ohtani slid into home plate, he collided brutally with Minnesota Twins catcher Mitch Garver. Garver needed assistance getting off the field following the play and would sit out the rest of the game.

Garver had a hit in four at-bats with 2 RBIs during Tuesday night's Twins win over the Angels, making his season average .329. Best wishes for a speedy recovery and hopefully he does not have to miss extended time, as his bat would definitely be missed in the lineup.
Worried about Mitch Garver who left tonight's game after a collision at the plate. He's been the best catcher in baseball this year, and it's been fun to watch. https://t.co/0T48jETmrf

The Twins catcher was having one of the better hitting seasons for a backstop in 2019, and should he be out for any extended period of time it would surely be a huge knock to Minnesota's chances in not just the AL Central but beyond.
