VIDEO: Mookie Betts Could Actually Be Related to Meghan Markle
By Sean Facey

With Mookie Betts and the Red Sox heading off to London soon, he might want to brush up on his family tree. As it turns out, the Sox star might actually be a distant cousin of Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex.
Meghan Markle and @mookiebetts could be distant cousins, according to amateur genealogist Jim McNiff, as first reported by @PeteAbe in the @BostonGlobe. According to Jim McNiff, an amateur genealogist from Massachusetts, it's entirely possible that the two are related.
Betts and Markle apparently had ancestors that lived side-by-side in Alabama in the 1870s who shared the surname of "Betts." Though there's no definitive answer as to whether or not they're properly related, all signs point to that being the case.
Markle, an actress from Los Angeles, notably entered the British royal family over a year ago when she married Prince Harry.

It's time for right field, it's Mookie Betts and Aaron Judge.https://t.co/R0fjNIDI8t
Now, the 2018 AL MVP can add that he's a cousin to British royalty to his illustrious resume! It's the perfect tidbit of information to tout as the Sox prepare to travel across the pond to take on the Yankees in the inaugural London Series.
What better way to foster a love of the MLB in England than to have someone who's at least somewhere way, way down in the royal line of succession play right field at London Stadium? It feels so rigth.
