VIDEO: Nationals Catcher Kurt Suzuki Takes Foul Ball Directly to the Crotch
By Max Scoli
Who would have thought that any player could have pain inflicted upon them at the hands of San Francisco Giants pitcher Jeff Samardzija, let alone his bat? Nevertheless, Washington Nationals catcher Kurt Suzuki learned the hard way that it is all too possible Monday night.
Ouch. That one had to hurt.
It appears that this painful moment may have prevented the veteran backstop from performing as usual, failing to record a hit on the day while also striking out once.
Luckily for the Nats, the former MLB All-Star's lack of offensive prowess did not cost them the game. They managed to shut out the Giants and keep themselves in striking distance of a Wild Card berth.
When he isn't getting attacked below the belt, Suzuki has proven to be a valuable contributor to Washington's lineup in his first season with the team. During the 2019 season, the catcher is sporting a .259/.323/.454 slash line along with 11 homers, 40 RBI, and 23 runs scored in just over 200 at-bats.
But perhaps he'll want a night off this evening. Just sayin'.
