VIDEO: NHL Social Media Edits Out 'Hand Pass' Calls From Sharks-Blues Highlights in Sketchy Fashion
By Sean Facey
Game 3 of the Western Conference finals was an absolute roller coaster that ended in extreme controversy as Erik Karlsson was the benefactor of an illegal hand pass, potting the game-winner. The NHL's social media chose to edit out the pleas for the obvious "hand pass" from the broadcast in San Jose's 5-4 overtime win against the Blues.
It's shameful. The playoffs have been fraught with inconsistent officiating and the NHL has chosen to bury its head in the sand in extraordinary fashion by editing these highlights. The league is riding the high of an incredibly unpredictable postseason, and reaping the financial benefits. Meanwhile, St. Louis fans are left with little to no explanation of how or why they lost Game 3.
The Sharks, of course, followed suit.
The choice of audio is extremely sketchy and quite absurd, especially considering the infraction gets repeated over and over in the highlights.
But it's much easier to turn a blind eye than face the truth.
